Alluring Reads

This week's Question:

Do you read one book at a time or do you switch back and forth between two or more?

This is such a good question. It usually depends on the mood I am in and the book that I am currently reading.  I often start a book and if it doesn't grab my interest right away, I will start on another book and come back to that one later.  Normally, I have at least 2 books going at the same time!! LOL :)  Oh, and I also carry a book in my purse, so I always have that one too- since I leave that one in my purse until I am done reading it! LOL :)

I've shared mine, now it is your turn. Make sure to leave your link and if your not a blogger, please leave a comment anyway, I would love to know your answers.

Thanks and Welcome to Belle's Book Bag!!

Dirty Little Secrets...

Dirty Little Secrets is a weekly meme hosted by Under The Covers. The purpose is to get to know other bloggers and our readers more intimately by asking them questions that will hopefully reveal their...Dirty Little Secrets.  ;)

I hope that you will join us every Thursday for the fun and let us know your Dirty Little Secrets!

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Dirty Little Secrets post, or share your ‘secrets’ in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks!

This week's question:

What book has been sitting in your TBR pile the longest and why haven't you picked it up yet? Or more importantly, will you ever read it now that it has been sitting there for forever?

My Answer:

The Chicagoland Vampire Series by Chloe Neill.

First off let me just say that I love HEA!!!  Most of the time I avoid books that don't end HEA!! I will read a series as long as the last book in that series ends HEA!! (Do you see a pattern here)  I like the type of book that the H/h  meet  eventually or immediately fall in love then have troubles then make up and live HEA!!! That being said, I am nervous to read this series because of certain things I have read about Ethan and Merit!!  So there they sit, on my shelf staring at me, waiting for me to take the plunge and read them!! LOL  :)  I plan to read them but I am waiting for Biting Cold to be released in August, before I start. LOL!! So there, that is my Dirty Little Secret!! ;)

Now it's your turn!!

Waiting On Wednesday...

"Waiting on" Wednesday is a weekly post, hosted by Breaking the Spine, to share the upcoming release I am inpatiently patiently waiting for :)

This week's "waiting on" choice is:

About That Night by Julie James
Release Day: April 3, 2012
HE’S PLAYING GAMES.
Though Rylann Pierce tried to fight the sparks she felt for billionaire heir Kyle Rhodes the night they met, their sizzling chemistry was undeniable. But after being stood up on their first date, Rylann never expected to see him again. So when she finds herself face-to-face with Kyle in a courthouse nine years later, she’s stunned. More troubling to the beautiful assistant U.S. attorney is that she’s still wildly attracted to him.
BUT SHE’S MAKING THE RULES.
Just released from prison, Kyle Rhodes isn’t thrilled to be the star witness in a high-profile criminal case—but when Rylann comes knocking at his door, he finds she may be the one lawyer he can’t say no to. Still as gorgeous and sharp-tongued as ever, she lays down the law: she doesn’t mix business with pleasure. But Kyle won’t give up on something he wants—and what he wants is the one woman he’s never forgotten.
. .
What's your "waiting on" choice this week?

Teaser Tuesday...

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. This meme is simple and fun, you just pick up your current read, flip to a random page, and choose 1 or 2 teaser sentences to share! Here are the guidelines:
  • Grab Your Current Read
  • Open to a random page
  • Pick two “teaser” sentences from that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO SHARE SPOILERS! (make sure what you share doesn’t give too much away. You don’t want to ruin the book for other readers)

Today’s teaser comes from  Beneath The Surface by Joya Fields, published by The Wild Rose Press. This is the first book that I have read from this author.  I found her in the RT Book Reviews magazine, May issue. I just started, but I really like it so far!!

So here is my teaser:

He turned, swung his leg over the bike, and started the engine. "Sit behind me...wrap both arms around my waist and relax," he hollered over the engine. "I'll go slowly." (12% Kindle)

She’s fighting to stay independent — he’s determined to protect her no matter what...
Brooke Richards survived the earthquake that took her parents and most of her leg, but she needs time to regroup. A trip to Florida for a state-of-the-art prosthesis and to visit her best friend Linda seems ideal.
But the trip turns traumatic when Brooke witnesses Linda’s boat disintegrating in a fiery explosion.
Police Officer Garrett Ciavello believes the blast was intentionally set to hide something Linda found on a dive. When Brooke offers her expertise in underwater archaeology, Garrett accepts her help with the investigation. But since his fiancée’s death years ago, Garrett has become overprotective, and as they are drawn to each other, Garrett realizes he will risk anything to keep Brooke safe.
Brooke is fiercely independent. Garrett is fiercely protective. Will they heal each other’s wounds and find a killer... before it’s too late?

Any teasers to share this week?

Reviewed: Consent To Love By Abby Wood...

Consent To Love by Abby Wood
Book# 2 - Wild Pleasures Series
Publisher:         Carina Press
Publish Date:   April 2, 2012
Category:          Adult/Erotica
Rating:   REALLY LIKED IT

Twenty-four-year-old small-town girl Ana Reynold serves beer at the local bar, tries to keep her beater car running, and dreams of a better life as a painter. If she can learn to make a decent steak, she might get promoted to cook—and earn enough for her real heart’s desire. Right now, that doesn’t include romance.
But when she meets a tall, dark and sexy Native American man named Kane, Ana can’t take her eyes off him—or stop thinking about him. But she’d better. Everyone knows the proud Lakota who raises horses wants nothing to do with a townie barmaid who’ll bring shame to his people.
Except Kane can’t get Ana off his mind. He proposes a red-hot weekend in bed, a no-strings affair to end Monday morning. Yet once Kane brings the outsider onto Lakota land, everything changes…
Review:
I am big fan of Abby Wood and I really liked this story!!  This is a light and easy read with some scorching HOT sex scenes.

Consent To Love is the story of Kane and Ana.  Kane is a Native American who rarely leaves the Reservation and Ana is a white small town barmaid.  They are immediately attracted to each other but prejudices come into play and Kane is worried that a relationship with him will cause trouble for Ana.

Consent To Love is about more then prejudice, it is about how finding the right person and opening up to love can change your life.  Through Kane, Ana gains confidence, love and family and through Ana, Kane finds not only love but acceptance and strength in his heritage.

I loved the ending.  Consent To Love is a great read from a great author.  You won't be disappointed.

This is a short story at only about 44,000 words.

Caught In The Act by Jill Sorenson

As the owner of a flourishing Latin American crafts boutique, Karina Strauss should be basking in her success. Instead she’s worried about her troubled sister, the girlfriend—and prisoner—of drug lord Carlos Moreno. Kari wants no part of that life, but when she helps a friend cross into the United States illegally, two men on opposite sides of the law take notice: Moreno and Adam Cortez, the handsome border protection officer who lets Kari off the hook. It’s not just Kari’s tantalizing flash of skin that catches Adam’s attention—her drug cartel connections bring back the demons of his past.

Moreno demands that Kari smuggle a package for him in exchange for her sister’s freedom. Adam also gets dangerously close, tempting her to surrender and fulfill her wildest desires. As Kari prepares for the drug run, dark secrets, violent criminals, and deadly consequences lurk around every corner. But concern for her sister drives Kari toward a terrifying act, despite Adam’s warnings, despite her overwhelming fears—and despite the odds against coming out alive.

I love this cover because not only is the guy HOT, but I like the background setting, it looks dark and mysterious. This book sounds so good - can't wait to read.

Review: Bared To You by Sylvia Day...

Bared To You by Sylvia Day
Book #1 - The Crossfire Series
Published by: Sylvia Day
Publish Date: April 3, 2012
Genre: Contemporary
Series: A Crossfire Novel
Source: ARC provided by NetGalley
My Rating: BEST OF THE BEST

Our journey began in fire…
Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness—beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily…
Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds… and desires.
The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart…
My Review:
This is the first book that I've read by Sylvia Day and I wasn't really sure what to expect.  WOW!! After reading Bared To You, Sylvia Day has a new fan and I have a new favorite author!!  I loved, loved, loved this book.  Right from the start it grabbed me and drew me in and still hasn't let go.  I finished it in one sitting, I just couldn't put it down. I fell in love with the Gideon and Eva right from the start.

Bared To You is the story of Eva and Gideon (great name for him). The story is told from Eva's point of view and I only wish that I could have heard it from Gideon's also.  They are both extremely attractive and are instantly drawn to each other, but neither is looking for a relationship. Eva has just moved from San Diego to New York with her roommate.  It is when she goes to her office building for the first time, that she runs into Gideon, literally, and their lives are forever changed. They each struggle with their own internal demons, insecurities, and past hurts.  Through the story, each tries to overcome their issues as well as help each other.   I love that Sylvia Day wrote these characters as not perfect, they both unintentionally made mistakes that hurt the other but they tried to learn from them and build on their relationship. Sylvia Day shows that relationships are hard and they take work and compromise from each person involved.  It is not always sunshine and flowers, but when two people are meant to be together, it can be amazing.  And their story is absolutely amazing, so much more then I expected and I loved every second.

I fell in love with Gideon, he is the ultimate Alpha Male, he says the best things to Eva.  It was a good thing I read this on my Kindle, because in paperback I wouldn't have been surprised if the pages melted!!  It has some of the HOTTEST, STEAMIEST, INTENSE, SEXIEST sex scenes that I have ever read!!

Eva and Gideon are perfect for each other and you can't help but root for them on their journey towards a happily ever after.  There is a great entertaining cast of secondary characters that have me hoping for their happily ever after as well.

Silvia's website states that this is the first book in the Crossfire series that follows the emotional and romantic journey taken by Gideon Cross and Eva Tramell.  Bared To You is an excellent start to the series.  I am definitely along for the ride on Gideon and Eva's journey and eagerly await the next book.  I highly recommend this book. It is absolutely a reread for me!!

Book Series Sunday...

The MacCarrick Brothers Trilolgy by Kresley Cole

Book #1: If You Dare
High in the Pyrenees, a band of mercenaries led by Courtland MacCarrick wages war for General Reynaldo Pascal. When Court turns on the evil general, Pascal orders him killed but Court narrowly escapes and exacts revenge by kidnapping Pascal's exquisite Castilian fiancée.
Can she deny her passions? Lady Annalía Tristán Llorente despises her towering, barbaric captor almost as much as she does Pascal. Her inexplicable attraction to the Highlander only fuels her fury. But nothing will stop her from returning to Pascal -- for if she doesn't wed him, she signs her brother's death warrant, as well as her own.
Can there be love between them? From the moment Court discovers that Anna's prim façade masks a fiery, brave lass, his heart's ensnared, and he dares to defy the curse that has shadowed his life -- to walk with death or walk alone. But Pascal vows that he'll hunt the two, never stopping until he's destroyed them both.

Book #2:  If You Desire
He tried to run....In his youth, Hugh MacCarrick foolishly fell in love with a beautiful English lass who delighted in teasing him with her flirtatious ways. Yet he knew he could never marry her because he was shadowed by an accursed family legacy. To avoid temptation, Hugh left home, ultimately becoming an assassin.
She tried to forget him.... Jane Weyland was devastated when the Highlander she believed would marry her abandoned her instead. Years later, when Hugh MacCarrick is summoned to protect her from her father's enemies, her heartache has turned to fury -- but her desire for him has not waned.
Will passion overwhelm them? In hiding, Jane torments Hugh with seductive play. He struggles to resist her because of deadly secrets that could endanger her further. But Hugh is no longer a gentle young man -- and toying with the fever-pitched desires of a hardened warrior will either get Jane burned...or enflame a love that never died.
Book #3:    If You Deceive
Burning vengeance...Ethan MacCarrick was a heartbreakingly handsome rake until a powerful nobleman ordered him brutally beaten and his face scarred for a crime he didn't commit. Ethan's reprisal -- bankrupting the nobleman and forcing his exile -- does little to appease his wrath. Ten years later, a haughty, mysterious beauty enchants Ethan -- the daughter of his enemy. At last, Ethan will have the revenge he's craved; he'll promise her marriage, seduce her, then cast her aside.
Bitter hardships...When Madeleine van Rowen's family was suddenly plunged into destitution and dishonor, she steeled herself against further heartache. She never weakened, never trusted, until a towering, scarred Highlander relentlessly pursues her, breaking down her defenses.
At what price forgiveness? The passion between them burns hotter than Ethan's fury, and soon he finds he can't let her go. But when Madeleine uncovers the truth about him, can Ethan convince her to accept all he now offers -- when he once destroyed everything she had?

I am a HUGE HUGE HUGE fan of Kresley Cole!!  I love her books and writing style so much!! I think
The McCarrick Brothers Triology are my favorite out of all the books she has written.  You can't help but love the three brothers and hope for their HEA. I highly recommend that this series find a place in your keeper pile.

Saturday Spirits...

One for you...One for me....

I am starting to read  Bared To You by Sylvia Day.  This is my first NetGalley received book(very excited!!). I will be posting my review soon. I have not read any of her books before.

I had to take a break from reading Dire Needs by Stephanie Tyler.  I am struggling to get through this one.  I am sure it is just me as this book has received some great reviews and I couldn't wait till it had been released.

What about you, has there been a book you were dying to read and then when you finally started, you struggled to finish??

I am way behind in my reading and my TBR pile is over flowing.

Happy reading and have a great weekend!! :)

18 and Over Book Blogger Follow...

18 & Over Book Blogger Follow is a weekly feature that begins on Fridays and runs through the weekend, hosted by Crystal from Reading Between The Wines.  This is a Friday blog hop with the objective to find and visit other book blogs that share the same interests as you, namely books geared towards the 18 & over crowd, and make some new friends!

Question of the Week:
Do you ever dream about the books you've read?

Definitely!!  That is the joy of reading for me, to escape into another place or time and lose myself in the characters and the story.  There are so many authors who are very good at telling a story, that the people, places and events that happen stick with you long after the book is finished!!  I especially like it when I dream of an alternate ending or replace myself with the heroine. LOL  ;)    I dream a lot about an alternate ending for Marking Time by Marie Force.  It didn't end the way I wanted for two of the characters. ( I am still hoping that she redeems herself and writes a follow-up story for them. (**cough-cough R&K**).

Usually I dream about the book I am reading or have just finished. I don't know what that says about me, considering most of the books I read are by Lauren Dane, Maya Banks, Sophie Oak, Heather Rainier, etc... hehe!!

Now it's your turn, do you dream about the books that you read?

Feature and Follow Friday...

This week's questions:

What is the longest book you've read?  What are your favorite 600+ page reads?

This is a good question.  Most of the books that I read are only about 400+ pages or less.
The longest and my favorite can be answered in the same books. Twilight at 498 pages,
New Moon at 563 pages, Eclipse at 629 pages and Breaking Dawn at 754 pages.  These are
my all time favorite books and I have read them more times then I can count.  Twilight was the
beginning of my book addiction, before that I never really read that much.  I am so glad I found
these books because they opened up a world of other books and authors that I was missing out on.

Oh and the books are way better then the movies!!! Although in the movies I can look at Robert Pattinson, so they have their appeal. LOL  Team Edward!! ;)

I've shared mine, now it is your turn. Make sure to leave your link and if your not a blogger, please leave a comment anyway, I would love to know your answers.

Thanks and Welcome to Belle's Book Bag!!

So here is my teaser:

For now it was enough just to hold her like this in the moonlight and see her smile, to know that she was happy and that in some small way, he was responsible for that.      (Page 133)

Chaos Burning (Bound by Magick #2)
by Lauren Dane

The life of Lark Jaansen, hunter in Clan Gennessee, has been shaped by violence and unrest--and it defines her future. Well-trained and resilient, she's met her militaristic match in Simon Leviathan, a warrior not of this world. Locked in mutual admiration, and a desire so hot it burns, Lark and Simon have something else in common: they love the dark, and as a shadow is cast over their world, they're each coming into their own.

A mysterious war has been waged among the Others. As witches and humans turn against each other, as fae retreat in fear, and as vampires rise, Lark and Simon discover that an unseen force is behind it. A single, hungry entity older than recorded history has returned to gorge on the magick of his victims. He is the Magister, nothing less than the end of time. Finding him is Lark and Simon's first hope. Surviving him is their last.
